inCamera is the fastest, easiest, and most accurate way to create custom ICC profiles for digital cameras and scanners. Accurate Color Capture Utilizing industry standard charts, inCamera creates a custom ICC digital camera or scanner profile by evaluating the color data captured by the camera or scanner and comparing the data to the known color values of the charts. This profile integrates seamlessly into any ICC color managed workflow. inCamera solves a major problem found in today's digital photo studio - accurate color capture. inCamera is designed to help the photographer achieve consistent, predictable color with any digital camera or scanner. Features an online User Guide that serves as a helpful tutorial for creating and properly integrating ICC profiles into a color managed Photoshop workflow. The Profiling Process 1. Simply open an image with one of the supported charts in the scene. 2. Select inCamera plug-in from Photoshop's Filters menu. 3. Position the appropriate flexible facsimile grid over the chart in the image 4. Save the ICC profile. 5. Assign the profile to each image taken under similar lighting conditions. The mechanics of creating a digital camera profile are quite simple. All you do is take a picture any of the supported charts under the specific lighting conditions of your photo shoot, open the image within Photoshop, launch inCamera from the Filters menu, align the flexible template over the chart in the image, and click Ok. inCamera automatically creates a custom ICC profile by comparing the colors captured by the camera to the known color values of the chart. Then, you simply assign the profile within Photoshop to all images shot under the same conditions. The profile not only dramatically improves the shot visually, but transforms the each of colors of the ColorChecker Chart squares with dead-on accuracy relative to the known Lab values. When we measure the Lab values of the various ColorChecker squares within the original image with the eye dropper tool, before and after assigning the profile, then compare them to the known Lab values of our digital representation of the ColorChecker Chart, we see that inCamera not only corrects the dynamic range and color balance of the gray scale, but corrects the color of each square across the entire spectrum as well. Profile Editing Even though we have made the color right relative to the known reference standard, we all know that color reproduction is every bit an art as much as it is a science. There may be times when you wish to intervene in the process, providing guidance as to how colors should be handled. There are countless imaging applications that offer standard color correction tools. An alternative method of adjusting color is to modify the behavior of a device profile instead. This is what profile editing is all about. ICC profiles created with inCamera may be edited to suit your preferences with our companion plug-in, iCorrect EditLab. |
