| Great job with the "canvangelist" publication! Very cool. Do you mind if we highlight it on the Deneba home page and monthly e-mail blast? / Regards, Manny Menendez (former President, Deneba Systems) I've got to hand it to you Mike, I'm impressed. That is truly a fine piece of work. I'm waiting to see what else you come up with. / Joe Sheble, Founder, Wizaerd's Canvas Realm Again you have outdone yourself. It looks great and makes we want to sit down and upgrade to OS X.1 and load up Canvas 8 and try my hand at being creative. Thanks for the kick start to get something done. It gives me ideas for projects to do. / Bruce I just wanted to give you two thumbs up for your efforts with this e-zine!! Great job!! I really like the look and feel. You pulled it off very well. Quality is excellent. I really like it. It's the sort of mag I really like reading. Your writing style is also right on the money in my opinion. It's thought provoking and warm. It doesn't feel like some automaton wrote it. / Bryan Guignard, Adobe Certified Expert OH! You are outputting directly from Canvas? Cool! Looks great! / Al Mejias, www.heyyoukids.com I like your e-zine! very useful. / morfeo Simply amazing layout. It looks very impressive. / Thomas Baekdal Very nice work!! / Len Looks great Mike! / Adrian Most excellent! I like what you did with the OS X motif. For the budding DTP experimenter, you give a lot of great tips. (Works for the experienced ones, too.) I like Canvas because you can do so many things. I've been hooked for a while (since v.5). / Bill Cook Mike, I'm amazed that Deneba hasn't hired you yet. Of course, the manuals would be so much easier to use then and what fun would that be? Thank you for explaining the selection tools in such detail. I was missing the full potential of these tools. Am looking Forward to Back to the Fifties #3. / Laura Drinkwater I just wanted to say that I think your publication "The Canvangelist" is simply great!! I had not been into the program for a while and just started surfing the net looking for tips and techniques I could use and ran across your link. Now I am inspired and may invest in Canvas 8 just to get to some of the features not included in Canvas 6. Keep up the good work and if there is a mailing listput my name on it!! / Leslie A. Robinson-Stone Hi Mike, it was remiss of me not to offer my congratulations on your efforts with the first edition (and now the second edition) of Canvangelist. So I do now: it is an exceptional accomplishment, and a valuable resource for relative newcomers and low-volume users like me, as well as seasoned users. Many thanks for taking the time to put in what must be a great deal of work. / Cheers, Michael Pless Hi Mike, [Canvas Cruisin'] illustration looks good. Look forward to reading your article on how it was made. / Manny Menendez Another stellar effort, Mike! Keep this up and we'll be prefixing your title of Canvangelist with 'Legendary' / Phil Hamson Canvangelist is *terrific*, Mike! How do you find/make the time? I'm sure you have fun doing it, though. Cheers! / Barry Another GREAT job Mike. I'm especially looking forward to the next issue...(the fifties are my era). / Bill Anderson I love Mike's Canvangelist and am envious of his time and enthusiasm. Keep going Mike. You're doing an awesome job. / Dave Rumfelt, Canvas Wizards Publishing Wonderful, Mike! I liked the ketsup bottle in one of the Canvas' guy's hands in the Diner [issue #3]. Besides some terrific graphics work, it's nice to see a good sense of humor as well. / Len Ford It all looks good dude! You must have put a ton of work into that one. / Bryan Mike, your Canvas e-zines are amazing! I love your eZine and forum posts! / Matthew Winslow So Mike when are you going to come out with a Canvas book? Thanks for all your great stuff! / Nancy Goodman Your Canvangelist Ezine is neat, if I do say so! I began using Canvas at version 2 or 3back then it came with a little wooden easelno idea why! I was diverted over the years into Adobe land and am just rediscovering Canvas. You have done a great job with the Canvangelist! / Michael Monos Wow, Mike where do you get the time to design such an excellent eZine? I sure hope to see more this year and I have to say thank you - without people like you Canvas would only be half the fun. Thanx for sharing your wisdom! / Brian Barth Mike, I just stumbled across your website through the link on the Deneba page (I was checking out the tutorials) and am totally in awe of your expertise with this complicated program. Thanks for helping. I've had Canvas since version 3 and am just now coming to grips with it. I'm determined to get more acquainted with Canvas. I'm mainly using it for newsletters and web graphics. Your newsletter format is great. I am boggled by channels and masks. Is there any way you can work some real basics into your newsletters? Thanks for the link on your site to more Canvas Resources, I spent some time looking at the discussion forum. I have lots to learn. / Take Care, Diana Draper Great job, Mike! / Nick Ahlfs I have enjoyed every issue of the Canvangelist and commend you on the quality of each project. You are helping to get Canvas more recognition, which I hope eventually will help to make it more widely recognized for the quality app it is and may even translate into more support for Canvas in the print marketplace. / Laura Drinkwater Another good fun issue. Stephanie was very excited to see her stuff in print. / Thx. Matt Cuson Through extensive use of the online tutorials, the support forums and mr. bedford's "canvangelist", i was able to become competent enough as a novice user to have output regarded as 'VERY professional' by the commanding officer. so to all involved, THANK YOU... / Very Respectfully, AK2 Eric Bemish You've given me a great idea for our annual report cover next January (re Canvangelist issue #5) / dargill Great looking issue Mike. It motivated me to try and put a few of my photos together, although instead of using an historical approach I am trying to emulate, (copy), some of Jerry Uelsmann's ideas. I remember doing this in the darkroom several years ago...it was an exasperating process. Amazing how easy it is with Canvas. Now if only I had the artistic ability to really carry it off. / Bill Anderson That first page image is evil! I love the Canvangelist lurking in the shadows. / Robert Gomez Thanks for sharing all your canvas expertise with us all in your fabulous e-zine. Looking forward to read it, and maybe try out something like it during the easter holydays? / Ivar Grunnaleite I just discovered The Canvangelist! I came across it on the Deneba web site. I visit it once in a while to see if there is anything new. Thank you very much for it. I have been looking for this type of thing to use to learn Canvas. I acquired Canvas originally by buying Art Explosion 750,000. I was so impressed that I bought the pro version of Canvas, and then got Canvas 8. I haven't had much time to get into Canvas, but soon I will be graduating, and I find it very helpful to have examples and tutorials, etc. when learning a program. Up to now I haven't found much for Canvas other than the manual. Thanks again for putting out The Canvangelist. And thanks for replying. I really appreciate it. / Patricia Schoenhals Mike, you've outdone yourself. If the rest of the issue [7] is half as clever as the cover, you've got yourself a winner.... / Take care, Manny Menendez Here's a VERY simple thing I did in Canvas. This a vector drawing of the 'compass rose,' an ancient navigational aid... I felt inspired to play with it. This all makes sense to me now...it was fate. Last month's plug-in issue of The Canvangelist gave me the inspiration to recreate the ancient old Compass Rose so that it would allow you to correctly position the sun in this month's issue. Brilliant! I used the Eye Candy 4000 'wood' effects applied as a sprite, then added other sprites (color balance, briteness, contrast, etc) to achieve the effects of different wood... / Dave I'm looking forward to this one [issue 7]. You know, Mike, you should consider putting twenty of these together and going to a publisher with them. You could try to either go for a book or a high gloss magazine or softcover book format with these. The freebies you're handing out are jewels by themselves. They allow bumbling don't-read-the-manual types like me to get a quick bead on what can be done. Experimentation takes over after that. Kudos and many thanks from someone who really gets a lot out of the Canvangelist. / Len Wonderful work of yours, by the way. Obvious from your website you have real talent. Keep up the great work. / Regards, Pete. |
I sure enjoy your continued presence on both the Wiz and Deneba [ACD] forums...and yes, I'm hip to the Canvangelist. Wonderful, wonderful work, Mike. / T Lewis Mike, this is amazing stuff. Are you using it in your teaching or something? / Cheers, Geoff Looks like it'll be a fun issue! Thanks for your continued effort on our behalf! / Laura Drinkwater I have already downloaded every issue of The Canvangelist; it is great! I especially enjoyed the Retro Metro issue. I was influenced greatly by your work to purchase Canvas. (I had the v7 Standard Edition and recently upgraded to v8 Pro). I am just totally blown away by the quality of the publications that you create with Canvas. / Take care, Robb Issue 7 has some of your best digital montages yet. You're definitely the pixel Pharaoh. And yes, that radial gradient does create a stunning sunset effect behind the pyramids. It makes the whole scene look very realistic. / The PDF Expert Is that your e-zine? I was quickly looking at it today at work. I will probably print most of it out next week. I was looking around for some ideas (on the net and Deneba homepage), just starting to learn how to use Canvas. / Take care, Larry (Boeing) You continue to exude coolness and practicality in a clear, concise way. your students must certainly be getting more than their money's worth judging by what you put out for the public's consumption / be well... v/r, ebemish thoroughly enjoy your works in the Canvangelist where do you find the time?! / Ron I took a look at Canvangelist -- very well done. Thanks for the cool image and the logo. / Don McClure, Digital Element, Inc. Thanks for all your groovy Canvangelists. Keep up the good work. / Jesse Winters, D. M. Winters Associates The man's got soul! My favorite issue so far! Really a nice flavor to it. / Laura Drinkwater Looks great. / Skip Elsheimer, Tech Guy, Alien Skin Software The new Canvangelist looks great!!!. We appreciate the review you did of our Filters. / Regards, Jason Zazzi, Product Marketing Specialist, Andromeda Software, Inc. Dude! Do you sleep? It looks great though, so I look forward to reading it, especially since it delves into my current inquiry: which Photoshop plug-ins work with Canvas 8. Great work. / mdawson Thanks Mike, that looks great! When we get our designers resources page up, I'll make sure we have a link to the Canvangelist in there. / Patrick, Vertigo Software Corp. Thanks for letting me know about the new issue and thanks for the nice Plugin Galaxy review. Great design your magazine has! I imagine that it must be a lot of work. / Regards, Harald Heim, The Plugin Site Thanks Mike! Excellent ezine indeed. If you ever get down here towards Atlanta let me know. We would love to have you do something at our meeting on Canvas. Anyway, thanks for the excellent link and resource you provide. / Bruce Pechman, Vice-President, Atlanta PC Users Group I took a look at the Blues issue. Very nice. Yours efforts in respect to the Canvangelist are certainly laudable. / Andre Brunet Mike, I bought Canvas 8 because I found The Canvangelist some months ago. It's a fine piece of art. / angmar Hey Mike Bedford: Your "Making Music with the G4" is absolutely AMAZING. I'm getting Canvangelist withdrawals. / Matthew Winslow by the way the new issue is great. / N.A. Goodman Great job on issue 9! / Robert Gomez Well my first impression was WOW!!! (!!!!!!) very cool issue. Outstanding is too humble a word to describe it. I would say it is marvelous. / Thomas Baekdal I do download and enjoy your PDF "zines". Great work! / Bonnie Morris Wow, what a great resource for those of us who want to make our work better by filtering with just the right plug-in. Your reviews of digital camera technology are quite helpful. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more issues. / Ross Jones, ProMax Technology Quite the tome Mike! I find this one easier to read. Not as edgy as the others. Softer on the eyes but still impactful from a content stand point. / Matt Cuson THANK YOU MIKE!!!! This issue deserves a resounding shout out. / Len Like always, the Canvangelist looks great. Thank you for the kind words about our Filters. / Regards, Jason Zazzi, Product Marketing Specialist, Andromeda Software, Inc. Thanks for the review. I appreciate you mentioning and demonstrating Maskerade, and hope it comes in handy for you in the future. I really enjoy browsing through Canvangelist. It's an entertaining and informative publication, even if it does eat up a whole tank of ink when it's printed ;-). / Thanks, Brock Brandenberg Hey - I really like your stuff - I'm a big Canvas fan, and I really appreciate the stuff you do/did. I use Eye Candy and want to use other filters as well... / thanks - Simon Being a Canvas evangelist myself I recently discovered your e-zine, great work! I like to think that I put Canvas through it's paces but you make me look like an amateur. / Chuck White I've been collecting every Canvangelist issue as you've gone along, thinking that the day will come when I can make use of the techniques. The more familiar I get with the program, the more my imagination kicks in. / Will I just noticed that you have released issue 10 of your ezine. First of all I think it is a very good issue, you provide a lot of information. I especially like the pages 4-5 (Color) / 8-9. / Thomas Baekdal Another visually stunning issue... I really like the concept and have enjoyed the previous issues. / Ted Wilson Thanks a lot for this wonderful number 10 Canvangelist. Just by looking at it, (what to speak of reading it) one will find rejuvenated in one's faith in the power and freedom of artistic expression achievable through Canvas. What strikes me, Mike, is your deep inspiration and the love of the software that you communicate throughout the Canvangelist. It permeates your readers and attracts the respect of any newcomer to Canvas. Great work of love and art! Keep on doing it to your heart's content! / Andre Brunet Thanks, Mike! We always love to see your work! / Best, Debra Boring, Vice President of Marketing, Auto FX Honestly, Mike, you do amazing stuff. ...Canvangelist is amazing! I'm just gob-smacked by it. / Cheers, Geoff That issue #10 turned out very well indeed. Nice work. We'd like to be featured in an upcoming issue if you're still interested. / Louise Shekter, Product Manager, Visual Infinity good stuff... been playing with the plug ins lately for some anticipated projects in early summer, though i think my use of them will be more subtle than some of your examples.. the reporting on the interfaces and the step-by-step screen shots will serve me quite well in not only making better purchase decisions but also implementing some of the ideas in my twisted li'l nugget... / thanks again... v/r ak2 eric bemish Just a short note of thanks - your work keeps me going back and trying new things in Canvas. / Bruce I've downloaded them all. / Leslie Robinson I know your ezine and read it often! I have saved all of the issues so far for reference...what a great resource you provide. Between your site and the excellent website Deneba [now ACD] provides there is a lot of good information. / Regards, Sara Froehlich, www.eclecticacademy.com Great site you have on Canvas, Mike. I am marketing manager at Eclectic Academy, by way of introduction. I have been playing with Canvas through several versions but really don't know much about it so plan to take Sara's [Canvas 9] class. It is an awesome program. Just wanted to touch base and compliment what you are doing. / Cheers, Ann Roberts another great issue and timely for me as well. i continue to explore the use of plug ins and the smartscale you reviewed this issue *may* come in very handy for my current project... Thanks again for all the great info over the past couple of years. It has been integral in my evolution from complete novice to "hack". ;-) / eric Thank you! It looks great; can't wait to read IT ALL. / Robb I downloaded the latest Canvangelist. It's always interesting reading. I was amazed that you actually had two product ‘reviews’ of software I didn‘t know about. Trust me, you have to get up really early to find new software I don’t know about. BTW- Digital Film Lab rocks. / Ted Wilson I used to look forward to reading software reviews in magazines like Computer Shopper. But in the last several years the reviews have been obligatory at best, and don‘t really get outside high profile products. Now comes “The Canvangelist” with in depth reviews about graphics software I never knew existed. Thanks. / Will Thanks for the nice review.
