Former Ambassador Portfolio and Envoy Photographer Mike Bedford has amassed a huge archive of his Ambassador-related photographs and is now offering this unique personal collection as a 17-gigabyte downloadable set for anyone who is interested, in return for a donation of your choosing (to cover the huge amount of scanning and editing work involved).
Included are over 3500 mostly high-resolution JPEG images from Pasadena and Big Sandy and 72 music and overseas project lecture mp3s (28 hours’ worth), most created between 1982 and 1996. Also included are copies of Mike’s published photographic work as it appeared in various church and college newspapers, magazines, yearbooks, promotional materials and other publications, as well as selected Ambassador-related memorabilia and documents. The more recent Pasadena campus destruction/construction is also represented.
The vast majority of these Ambassador images are not currently online and will not be posted in the future, except for occasional low-resolution examples. This archive is the best means for alumni to keep and enjoy the entirety of this material for their personal (non-commercial, offline) use, in the best quality available.
See below for more background info and details about the contents of this collection.

Most of these images were scanned directly from the original 35mm and medium-format negatives, slides and tearsheets, then individually and manually post-processed in Photoshop for the best presentation. No one has ever viewed these images at this quality before, and many are never-before-seen or published: uncropped outtakes from class photos and other photo shoots, negatives and slides never before scanned, etc.
Mike first set foot on the Ambassador College campus in Pasadena in 1982, where he began laying the foundation for working for the Editorial Department (Photography division) six years later. But first, he was a student in Big Sandy from 1984-86 before returning to Pasadena from 1988-90. His camera was permanently attached and always capturing what was going on!
After graduating in the last Ambassador Pasadena class (1990), Mike was hired by Ambassador full-time and moved back to Big Sandy to join the Communications department. He served as Photography Editor for college publications and taught Photography and Freshman Speech labs as a faculty member until 1996, shortly before the campus closed.
Over the course of all these years, Mike photographed every aspect of campus life, from activities to events to groups to sports to news and of course people, even the buildings and grounds before, during and after construction. Reviewing these thousands of images and listening to the audio is like reliving your best years at Ambassador all over again. If you’ve got AC/AU nostalgia, this is the cure!
